Aspire One video support

July 22, 2008 — BarryK
I have added support for the 1024x600 LCD screen in the Acer Aspire One.

This required patching the source of the '915resolution' package, version 0.5.3, as described here by timothyli:

...the forum thread has a link to a site with the complete patch. This is for the Intel 965GM graphics chip.

Aspire One sound

I don't yet know if sound works in 4.1. I would like to know about that. I'll post this to the forum also, but there are a few things I would like to know about the Aspire One: In a terminal run this: # ddcprobe ...does it return a line with "timing: 1024x600" in it? Note, ddcprobe sometimes has the be run a second time to work. Could you post the result to me. In a terminal run this: # dmidecode ...and post result for me to read. I notice from the forum thread that sound, at last on an earlier puppy, needs "options snd-hda-intel model=acer" in /etc/modprobe.conf. If it turns out that 4.1 needs this also, the output of dmidecode will enable Puppy to detect that an Aspire One is running and apply any required hacks.
