ffmpeg/xine-lib roll-back

September 12, 2008 — BarryK
I have decided to be extremely cautious and conservative for 4.1.

There is something not quite right about the latest builds of ffmpeg and/or xine-lib in the recent alphas. Playing a RealMedia video on my laptop, sound is jumbled, whereas it plays fine in pup 4.00.
Zigbert has also reported a problem with mp3 conversion.

So, I have rolled back to ffmpeg/xine-lib used in pup 4.00. It knocks about 1MB off the live-CD, as the faac, faad2, x264, and xvidcore packages are not needed. People can add enhancement PET packages afterward for extra libraries support.
