November 03, 2008 — BarryK
It's out! 4.1.1 is a bugfix release of 4.1. Some small improvements too. These fixes and improvements include:

mouse detection, touchpad tapping, loading extra SFS files, DVB USB firmware, old Network Wizard, GPRS messsage, desktop drive icon renaming, desktop drive icon realigning, check dependencies of installed PET packages, ALSA shutdown, ROX error message when copying from Linux to vfat filesystem, improved support for widescreen resolutions, remaster-CD improved, rxvt terminal pasting, and many network setup fixes especially for wireless (including ndiswrapper).

Details on all of these fixes can be found by a search for "(SP1)" in the title, in the 'search' box at the left side of this blog.

Warning
If you tested 4.1.1rc, make sure that there is no pup_411.sfs file on the hard drive before upgrading to the 4.1.1final.

Unleashed CD
Several long-time Puppy helpers have requested a gratis Unleashed CD. I'm still getting that together and expect to post the CDs on Tuesday. Also there are a few back-orders that I had delayed processing pending the imminent release of 4.1.1.

"That was fast. There is a reason that I prefer Puppy over big distros :D Many thanks for keeping Puppy so good for all these years. My computing life took a major turn for the better when I first stumbled into Puppy way back in version 0.91 or so. It's improved so much I hardly recognize it, but it's still got the same spirit. Small and simple.

"Hello, And first thumbs up for all Puppy contributors. I had installed on HD and run fine Puppy 4.0 on an old Texas Instrument /ACER 670CDT 64MB Ram, 6GB HD, 800x600-16bit Xorg + JWM. I didn't figured out how to upgrade to 4.1 or 4.1.1. from 4.0, so I deleted any HD partition, and booted from 4.1 or 4.1.1. ISO images burnt CD. ISO images were md5 checked, and burnt CD were md5 checked. But anytime I boot from 4.1. or 4.1.1. CD, as far as I can see on debug level 7, after FUSE init , script says: "Searching for Puppy files in computer disk drive..." Then red error msg: pup_411.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console... /bin/sh: can't access tty: job control turned off. I'm stuck there. Any hint ? Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is not the right place to post. Peko
