ROX-Filer rolled back

May 06, 2009 — BarryK
I have been unable to fix the mime-handling problem in Rox 2.7.1. It insists on displaying a plain text file as 'application/octet-stream', which is a sprocket icon.

I compiled our trusty old version 2.6.1 in Jaunty pup, simply replaced the ROX-Filer executable with the older version, restarted X, and hey prsto, Rox now thinks that plain text files are 'text/plain' and shows the correct icon.

Maybe someone could raise this issue with the Rox developers. For now, I have rolled back.

"Hi Barry I made a package with the latest rox and it works out of the box:) Plus I made new mimes for it for sfs, iso, etc, the total icons size compare to the flat black is 12kb smaller extracted, added a newer blinky I themed and compiled on jpup, built a desktop icon them, and wallpaper, lol what a mix. It can be found at. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=304736#304736 Just a note the icons in /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/MIME-icons have to stay there, but they could be link from that directory and replace the identical ones located in /usr/local/apps/ROX-Filer/ROX/MIME with system links. Hope that helps ttuuxxx .
