Abiword 2.7.7 smaller

July 25, 2009 — BarryK
I would like to thank technosaurus, with input from ttuuxxx, who figured out some interesting things for Abiword 2.7.x:

The configure options that technosaurus figured out result in a quite small package. My PET package is 2.2MB, but the spell-checker dictionary is a different package (0.73MB).

Regarding the pcf fonts, they still do not work, so I have to keep them disabled. I do not know how technosaurus got them working. Maybe due to my later version (2.7.7)?

Hi Barry maybe if you can't get the pcf fonts working, maybe its time to clean them up, Like delete just about everyone of them and only keep maybe one or two for xorg and rxvt to use, They do take up a lot of space and if Abiword can't use them, Then there's no need for so many versions of them, We could use GNU General Public License v.2 liberation fonts https://fedorahosted.org/releases/l/i/liberation-fonts/liberation-fonts-1.02.tar.gz These fonts are metric-compatible with Arial, times New Roman, and Courier New respectively. ttuuxxx
