Quirky 0.0.2 uploaded

December 21, 2009 — BarryK
I made a very brief announcement here:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/quirky/quirky-002/002-readme.htm

The desktop features "Tillman the skateboarding bulldog".

Download:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/quirky/quirky-002/
http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/quirky/quirky-002/

Build 002 is for sanity testing my work on reducing size, so testers welcome. I would like to know if any apps are not working. Look around the menu, there are new things there.

002 is my Christmas present. Have a nice time everybody. Between now and Christmas I'll be working on a few things -- like, a few people want booting from SD card (with a laptop inbuilt SD card slot), so I might take a look at that. Then a break for a few days, family get togethers, etc.

"Had to use the set global font size program to change the fonts size, so the desktop would look ok. The drive, icons along the bottom, where all too low on screen and would not line up. I was using 1024X768 resolution. Set font to 96 DPI all looks good. Never had to do this before. Merry Christmas!!!

Bad quirky002.iso at ibiblio?

"The quirky002.iso I downloaded from http://distro.ibiblio.org had the wrong md5sum. I download again from http://ftp.nluug.nl and that had the right md5sum. An incorrect iso could account for some of the problems noted above. Can someone confirm the md5sum? It booted OK afterwards but I also had 001's Panel on the right hand side. I eventually had to delete the install and start afresh. On the new install I tried to load Firefox from the PPM using T2 from bk.org. This it appeared to do and showed as loaded including dependencies, however it wasn't in the menu and looking for it it appeared not to be loaded. The 'package' files was empty. I haven't tried loading anything else yet from PPM.

"There was a little database problem. I fixed it, all good now.

looking for puppy file

"I downloaded quirky and it works fine on my desktop. First the cd looks for a puppy file on hard disk. I read that's only one file in quirky so is it useful to scan the hard? Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! from a winter day... Guess in Australia it's summer now. Regards!
