The main purpose of this build is to test the rollback to Xorg 7.3.

I put in a small utility, 'report-video', though I found afterward that it doesn't work quite right. It's purpose is to help with reporting your setup if your video doesn't work quite right.

I would like to know what works, what doesn't. So far I have tested on three computers, my laptop that uses the 'intel' or 'i810' driver, a desktop PC with an Nvidia card that uses the 'nv' driver, and another that uses the 'openchrome' driver. All three work.

The build uses the 2.6.30.5 kernel from Puppy 431.

"Lobster, you have ATI video, but Xorg is only using the generic 'vesa' driver. There are three ATI drivers, 'r128', 'mach64' and 'radeon'. There is another one that I'm not sure about, 'radeonhd'. In previous puppies, have you ever got Xorg working with any of these?

"Tested on a 4th PC that uses the 'sis' driver, that works.

"Don't bother with that 'report-video' utility, it is too broken. Broomdodger, you haven't said whether those two worked for you or not.

"So far everything I have tried worked. + seamonkey + gnumeric + I compiled gvim in quirky 010 and it works from that quirkysave. + 16bit video icons are ok. + 24bit video icons have black background. + foxit reader needs 24bit color or crashes, but that is old news. Later I will check all the above on my work PC.

"Tested on three computers. 1 - PNY Verto FX5200 graphics (128Meg) ran fine using XOrg (XOrg.conf showed nv driver used) 2 - Matrox MGA G200 AGP graphics (memory not known) ran fine using XOrg (MGA G200 AGP driver used) 3 - ATI Radeon 9800 pro graphics (128meg) XOrg locked the machine solid - had to hard reboot. Ran ok with XVesa. This machine runs XOrg fine with Puppy 4.3.1 (and earlier versions) Hope this helps Ledster
