August 22, 2010 — BarryK
This is the version of Woof used to build Wary 0.6 (060), except that I have removed the "exec" string in line 86 of /usr/sbin/delayedrun (as reported in the announcement of Wary 0.6).

For introduction and instructions to download Woof, go here:
http://bkhome.org/woof/

So, if you have previously downloaded Woof, all you have to do this time is run this in the Woof project directory to update to the latest Woof files:

# bones download

It is recommended that you follow instructions in the above link to download Woof with full history, however if all you want is the latest tarball, here it is:
http://bkhome.org/bones/woof/woof-LATEST.tar.gz

Note that I will be making some more changes soon, to enable Woof to build Lucid Puppy 5.1.x. One change will be to the Xorg Wizard, that playdayz is working on.

I am running 2createpackages right now building a "lucy" .. see what happens. One thing, do we one day move up to bash4 as default? If so, when do you think? Cheers

"Well the result was pretty good, I can barely tell the difference from luci-217(alpha for lupu-511) uploaded by playdayz (with my initial tweaks) and my lucy-000. Booted straight to a nice desktop and all the same tools appeared as normal, and the special script for full install is there. Playdayz won't have too much problem syncing. Printing works, although we seem to have an issue with sharing (with a lupu/luci as host). We're working on it. Biggest issue so far is libgoffice not installed, don't know why yet but abiword fails without it, I may have the wrong abi pet too. Good thing is that I can build very close to an original 5.1X release, :cool: 2 problems with build process. The woof_gui didn't work at all building from luci-217. No worry for me, but I wonder why, didn't investigate as I usually stop and tweak along the way so always build from command line. (for example, I disable all repos except aarnet, very fast for me, but not all pets are there yet, so had to manually grab missing ones from ibiblio). Second one was weird.. Pmusic failed to unpack, I got a gz error thrn a tar error. Sure enough the dir wasn't fully populated, so while the rest of the files were unpacking in 2createpackages, I unpacked it manually and put it in the tree, which of course caused a few minor issues with the pinstall not being run. Cheers

kernel subversion

"I was wondering if KERNELSUBVER in initrd.gz/init, /usr/sbin/bootmanager, /usr/sbin/filemnt and KERNMAJ in /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit could be changed to
KERNELSUBVER=`echo -n "$KERNELVER" | cut -f 3 -d '.' | cut -f 1 -d '-' | cut -f 1 -d '_'` #v423
and
KERNMAJ=`echo -n "$KERNVER" | cut -f 3 -d '.' | cut -f 1 -d '-' | cut -f 1 -d '_'` #v431
in the next woof. This is not changing functionality and allows OLPC kernel version to be correctly identified.

"Hi Barry I just did a full install of the latest luci-220 dev version for lupu-511 (latest woof) and I got "no smp" appended to my boot line in the suggested grub entry in /tmp/NEWGRUBTEXT. I have a dual core AMD X2 processor. Other than that, I successfully built a squeeze puppy from woof 22 August. plenty of bugs, but it connected and browsed ok. Cheers
