OpenOffice works on "093"

October 26, 2010 — BarryK
Terryphi has done some detective work on why OO does not work with the 2.6.34.x and 2.6.35.x kernels, with success, although we don't as yet know exactly what is causing OO to get stuck.

Anyway, Wary built with the 2.6.31.14 kernel has no problem with OO. Hmmm, very interesting.

I have just tested on my PC that has "stuttering" sound with Wary 092. Sound works nicely.

"Sorry, I'm not in tune, can't think what you mean by "transparency". What transparency setting are you referring to?

"Transparency in jwm. The inactive window takes on a transparent look. It is enabled via xcompmngr. To make it work in Wary this code has to be added to xorg.conf: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "1" EndSection Other Puppies dont seem to need this. After activating, transparency works but it borks mplayer

OO stuck on k2.6.34.6

"OO crashes on my hardware which uses the ATI Radeon 3450 video driver. If however, I switch to XVESA, LibreOffice and GoOffice both work OK. OpenOffice still seems to bomb out though with a Java error. So the ATI driver, built in to the kernel may be causing the crash somehow.

"Ah, ok. That is probably a somewhat specialised requirement. There was also another issue mentioned in the forum... what was it.. DVB-T? Anyway, I'll take a fresh look at mplayer and media playing in general after Wary 5.0 is released.
