Lucid Puppy 5.2 on the "home run"

November 29, 2010 — BarryK
Playdayz has wasted no time building Lucid 5.2-pre from Woof of November 28, "luci-240".

This is a pretty good Woof I reckon, an excellent base for Lucid to go for it and get 5.2-final released.

Here is the forum thread, testers needed:

...luci-240 is announced on page 114.

While I think of it, playdayz:
1. No need to include the framebuffer modules, they aren't used for anything anymore. And with KMS enabled, they are totally redundant.
2. regarding the 'zzz' package, those improvements are supposed only. It is difficult, ideally you should build without zzz, see if there are still any issues with sound, etc. If so, then use zzz.

"Hi Barry I've been supporting 5.2 for almost a week now, It does have a few issues like gtk, I think it needs to be patched, also xml has had issues when compiling. I would say its beta quality. It needs some fine tuning, Also its been really stable. :) I've used about 9GB of my pupsave file and its still going strong. ttuuxxx

zzz in Luci

"I have posted a recommendation about 'zzz' in Luci: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=472620#472620 It seems, from reading posts in the Luci thread, around pages 119-122, that there are muted-sound issues with zzz, issues that I don't seem to have in Quirky, so something is different in Luci. Another reason to stay with a normal system.
