Drake Puppy 0.1

July 03, 2011 — BarryK
Here it is, the first (alpha) release of Drake Puppy, built from Mageia 1 binary packages. Also known as Pupdrake and Puppia.

Built with 2.6.34.8 kernel. I should compile a later kernel for Drake Puppy.

X starts automatically. Perhaps a first-start configuration GUI as used in Lucid would be appropriate in the next Drake Puppy.

Anyway, for anyone who want to play with this pup:

Cannot Display This Video Mode! "Perhaps a first-start configuration GUI as used in Lucid would be appropriate in the next Drake Puppy" - essential! Not only needed a hard reset, but a power switch-off to reclaim my machine. Mandrake was where I came in. Left them several years ago when Puppy first appeared. They wasted far too much of my time and effort with their non-functioning code. Good riddance.

"There have been reports in a bug thread on murga-linux/puppy that applications other than pet packages are failing to install correctly. By this, I mean blank files and also missing files after attempted install.

"I tried Drake 0.1. It is much faster in loading/shutting down/executing apps compared to Lucid or Wary. Movie cannot watch full screen. But not important for me. Sometimes boot from USB without HD still fail even with setting pmedia=usbflash in the isolinux cfg file. If this happen, pressing F3 and typing puppy pmedia=usbflash will help Drake find the sfs files. I am sticking to this puppy for now. Great job Barry.

"CorianSpirit, You don't have to press F3, that is only to display the advanced menu information.
