"building Archlinux-pup Barry, This is not related to this post but I hope you will have some time and look it. I tried building a arch version of dpup and got stuck at a point in ./0setup where it says: "Checking that compat-distro pkgs specified in PKGS_SPECS_TABLE actually exist... FAIL: cups FAIL: libcups FAIL: cyrus-sasl FAIL: cyrus-sasl-plugins FAIL: flac FAIL: foomatic-filters FAIL: gcc FAIL: gcc-libs FAIL: gphotofs FAIL: gtk2 FAIL: gtksourceview FAIL: heimdal FAIL: libexif-gtk FAIL: libgsf FAIL: libjpeg FAIL: libtool FAIL: libtool FAIL: kernel-headers FAIL: mtr FAIL: nasm FAIL: ntfs-3g FAIL: ntfsprogs FAIL: openldap-clients FAIL: libldap FAIL: pkgconfig FAIL: poppler FAIL: poppler-glib FAIL: sqlite3 FAIL: xf86miscproto FAIL: xf86bigfontproto FAIL: trapproto FAIL: fontcacheproto FAIL: xorg-apps FAIL: xorg-res-utils FAIL: libxfontcache FAIL: libxtrap FAIL: libxxf86misc FAIL: xsane FAIL: xorg-server Finished, but some failures. You need to fix the above entries in PKGS_SPECS_TABLE in file DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS-arch. Search for suitable packages in these files: Packages-arch--core Packages-arch--extra Packages-arch--community Or, search online. In the case of Debian or Ubuntu, you can search at packages.debian.org or packages.ubuntu.com. After you have fixed PKGS_SPECS_TABLE, run this script again I have tried searching and correcting these in the PKGS_SPECS_TABLE in file DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS-arch but It is sure to find them. "yes|cups|cups,libcups|exe,dev,doc,nls|+heimda1" is in DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS-arch. I do not know how to fix it. "libcups cups-1.5.0|libcups cups|1.5.0|1|BuildingBlock|K|extra/os/i686||+gnutls=2.8.3,+libtiff=3.9.2-2,+libpng=1.4.0,+krb5,+avahi|The CUPS Printing System - client libraries and headers|" is in Packages-arch--extra. Thanks.

"01micko, zdump is in the glibc package. It is specified in the 'glibc' template, at usr/sbin/zdump -- and will go into the main sfs. wuxiandianzi, "libcups cups-1.5.0|libcups cups|1.5.0|1|BuildingBlock|K|extra/os/i686||+gnutls=2.8.3,+libtiff=3.9.2-2,+libpng=1.4.0,+krb5,+avahi|The CUPS Printing System - client libraries and headers|" ...yikes, the syntax of that is broken. That is specifying two different packages. One entry must specify only one package. Surely that wasn't auto-generated by Woof?

"Re Barry Yes, I am sure it it not auto-generated by Woof. I fix it like this
"yes|cups||exe,dev,doc,nls" "yes|libcups|exe,dev,doc,nls"
Now no cups fail. But others still fail. Here is "DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS-arch"

"I am sorry, the syntax of that is still broken. The woof is latest. thanks

Re Arch syntax error

"The line you posted, with the syntax error, is not in file DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS-arch, it is in one of the Packages-arch-* files, as you yourself commented.

"yes,this three files are created by Woof. Packages-arch--core Packages-arch--extra Packages-arch--community he syntax of that is still broken after I fix PKGS_SPECS_TABLE in DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS-arch. I want to know if I can fix that three files manual?

Re ?

"The syntax error in Packages-arch--extra has nothing to do with PKGS_SPECS_TABLE. Besides, the name of the file Packages-arch--extra is wrong. There should not be a double-dash. You need to set Woof up properly for Arch, or not bother. Tackling Arch with Woof is not easy, we haven't done it for a long time. It requires a very high level of ability with Linux to figure it out.
