mtrr errors

Seems any PC with video sharing ram gets (via dmesg) 'MTRR allocation failed. Graphics performance may suffer'. Could likely be the cause of video crashes & screen dirt. No puppy seems to have addressed this possibility. Ubuntu fixed this last year by enabling MTRR cleanup and spare register = 1 in kernel's Processor area. Appending the kernel line in grub with 'enable_mtrr_cleanup mtrr_spare_reg_nr=1' is supposed to fix it (in ubuntu anyway). Doesn't work. Perhaps the precise puppy kernel should be complied to include these settings.
