Precise Puppy 5.4.92 (5.5beta)

February 20, 2013 — BarryK
Precise 5.4.90 (5.5alpha) was a success, and the beta is looking extra good! As usual, this release is for "internal consumption" only, not intended to be quite ready for widespread public announcement.

Brief Release Notes

Extra Release Notes
1. This build has rerwin's puppyfied Frisbee (originally created by Jemimah).
2. Built from Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.01.2 binary packages.

Download host will complain if too many people hit that at once, so if anyone can upload the files elsewhere to spread the load, greatly appreciated!

1. Not a bug, just a cosmetic thing. Some of the sub-menus have divider-bars at the top. I have already fixed that.

Coming next
Kernel 3.8 is released, and I will be compiling it and building a non-PAE kernel, with f2fs (Flash Friendly File System) support.
This will become an experimental basis for exploring usage of f2fs. Precise now has the infrastructure to support f2fs, but various scripts such as the Universal Installer will need to be adapted.

"Consider, about having the Precise Release (green area) notes for the package above the Woof Release (grey) notes and making that the standard way of having them from now on. After all, Everyone will wnat to see what's harrened for the release, but only those of us building will be interested in the woof side. Just a thought.
