Here it is!

Very interesting -- I have tested this pup on my "white tower" with SiS video, and it worked first go, graphical desktop with Xorg 'sis' driver.

L18L mentioned that he would like to experiment with 'fido', but this pup is missing the 'sudo' package, needed for fido to work. Get it from here:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/pet_packages-common/sudo-1.8.1p1.pet

Does anyone want to have a go at compiling the latest Abiword (2.9.4) for this pup? I tried but got an error about a missing 'g_module_symbol', that I couldn't figure out. Maybe different configure options will work around that problem.

Any other apps that need to be upgraded for beta2?

"A note for anyone who wants to tackle compiling Abiword, you need the 'boost' packages. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly which ones, but if you run the PPM, choose the 'ubuntu-main' repo, tick the 'exe' and 'dev' checkboxes, and search for "boost" ...then install all found packages, that covers it. It needs a pretty good size save-file, I think I used 768MB.

"Some feedback: 1. the Broadcom wl.ko driver seems to be missing 2. there is residue from k3.2.29 in /lib/modules 3. libpng libraries - quite a mix in /usr/lib - but no libpng.so.14 which is I think the latest 4. Frisbee changes seem to be AOK Cheers peebee

RE compile abiword

"pmp, Thanks for the feedback. I should have mentioned, I want to compile with gtk2, as that is all that Precise pup has. There is a configure option to choose gtk2. Perhaps that is the problem, why compile failed for me.

Re modules residue

"peebee, Thanks, I have removed those drivers from the package-list. They are drivers compiled for the 3.2.29 kernel: dgcmodem ess wl The first two are analog modem drivers, sources can be found in my sources repo http://bkhome.org/sources Who is the guy who has been compiling the wl drivers for us? Can't quite recall, but he has been very helpful with compiling it for different kernels. I think that we will stay with the 3.2.44 kernel for sometime.

Re delta

"vicmz, I wasn't going to, as I thought it would be too big, given how different 5.5.92 is from 5.5. Just a tick, I'll check... ...yes, the iso delta file is 70MB. The devx delta file is 33MB.

Re compiling abiword

"pmp and my own experience with compiling abiword has revealed two problems... 1: I discovered that there are two DEBs missing. As per normal, Debian/Ubuntu split original packages up into many smaller ones. In the case of 'cairo', I have missed out two of those, 'libcairo-gobject2' and 'libcairo-script-interpreter2'. This oversight applies to both Precise pup and Raring pup. One side-effect of that is that pmp had to create a symlink. 2: The second problem is the the PPM shows deps for 'libboost1.46-dev' as being cpp, g++, gcc, etc., even though they are already present in the 'devx' SFS. This is a bug in the PPM, I'll see if I can fix it tonight or tomorrow. The PPM should be aware that the 'devx' is loaded -- well, I think that I did code that in, but something is amiss.

Debian Wheezy support in woof2
Username: pemasu
"I am almost there with Dpup Wheezy using Debian 7.0 packages. DISTRO_SPECS is compatible. Using latest woof of today and test build seems good. I had to manually hack 2createpackages and 3builddistro so that i386-linux-gnu ie multiarch was noticed and the precise-raring like symlink was created. Could you create debian wheezy platform with those needed fixes to the scripts...so that there would not be need to manually hack debian squeeze platform to debian wheezy. I believe I get first beta for masses today.
