I have not decided on a final theme, so it will be something thrown together again.

yes the latest kernel is more modern, faster, better, but less stable...doesnt matter, take it, try it...
For other reasons, I hate gcc, I tried to compile latest version, errors. How can they release software with bugs ? They are crazy.

re:4.3beta1 coming soon
Network printing seems to be giving me issues.
Where do we make bug reports for the
latest development versions?

I had no issues over a smb wireless network with printing.http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=45113&start=30
That too is the bug report thread for ppa/s/r -422 pre-beta 4.3

re:4.3beta1 coming soon
Mine is WLAN, and is dead as a doornail.
Anyway, I done my duty & reported it.
Best I can do.

Have been using upup alpha 9 on my Acer Aspire One and it works fine once I modprobed pciehp and set pciehp_force=1 (this allows SD cards to be read on insertion in either slot). Thought I'd try 422pbr, which also works fine but also does not natively read SD cards. Tried modprobing pciehp and get "no such file". Could it be incorporated please?

Now about 1 day away. I have built the CDs, been testing them.
Of course, when I log into the forum, there will be further feedback and bug reports, but they will be tackled for the beta2.
We should probably decide on a theme by then too. When I start the 4.3beta1 thread, I'll ask for suggestions. I have neglected that side of things -- WhoDo sent me some icons, Ttuuxxx sent some icons. If we can keep the theme simple, nothing that will slow rendering down -- some of the GTK themes that we have used in the past that make heavy use of graphics have, I'm informed, also been noticeably slower on old hardware, as well as needing more space. So, simple flat or graduated colors.
Actually, there are already a lot of nice themes that you guys have developed. Perhaps one of them will slot nicely in. I suppose Superpup is out

SD Card fix OK for Notebook?
I am having trouble with SD card recognition on my ACER Aspire 5535-5452 laptop/notebook. Would ledster's Acer Aspire One fix be OK on mine as well?
modprobed pciehp and set pciehp_force=1 (this allows SD cards to be read on insertion in either slot)
While I await 4.3b1 or 4.3b2 I am using Fatdog 112.

Oh, it looks like I might have to recompile the kernel:
# CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI is not set

Just to let you know, considering 430 doesn't have a cursor selector
I just modified pcursorsel-0.1 (used in 421) to:
1. List only available cursors (exclude default & ROX folder)
2. Not loosing opened windows and unsaved data when changing cursor (using big bass' xrefresh)
Whether you want to include or not, it surely up to you.

I also compiled another version of pwallset. Maybe it's what you want:
I name it pwallset-1.1 just to differentiate
It is only 1 file, called AppRun, you replace the original /usr/local/apps/Wallpaper/AppRun
It is 1 file only, no need other files, so it will adhere to original AppRun in 430
and it won't list all the ORIGINAL-xxx.jpg

trio your version you left out the files needed for 2&3 series so it doesn't work on the older systems now, The one that Gposil had we managed to have it working on all series, why handicap the application when it was so small with all the functions?
Posted on 14 Aug 2009, 21:52 by trio
It was intended only to replace AppRun in 4 series (so it won't interfere with anything else), especially 430 (with the new background_reshape fucntion). To make it work with older series, I guess just use the necessary set_bg from any other puppy. should work ok

sd card reader no response
Tried the suggested boot options using Fatdog 112, no joy.
I will wait for 4.3beta2 then try things there - I only have the one laptop on my desk right now and it is "mission-critical" - can't risk bricking it. I am working on the acquisition of a second PC as a backup so I can play more with Beta's and stuff.
