See also my previous blog post, which has a fix for Simple Network Setup, get that script from here:
...expand it at /usr/local/simple_network_setup, make sure execute attribute is set. Test, make sure that my bug fix doesn't cause any new bug!

not auto ethernet
Hi Barry, This new rc.network does not seem to connect automatically if there is an ethernet connection, which the previous rc.network had been doing. Thanks.

Hmmm, strange. The code that I modified in rc.network should not prevent wired ethernet from working. I can't test it, away from home.
If you look in /etc/simple_network_setup/connections, the entry for the wired connection -- does the 6th field have the correct macaddress, as reported by "ifconfig -a"? If not, run the setup again.

I only modified the code in rc.network that creates /tmp/sns_connections_available. After bootup, you should find the wired ethernet entry from /etc/simple_network_setup/connections copied into this file, plus any other active wireless configurations found.

Installed the new rc.network in one of my frugal Lupu-508 installs.Deleted the old rc.network and replaced with the new after making it executable.
Rebooted and had a connection immediately upon the reboot. Rebooted three more time and it's maintaining my wired ethernet connection. No problems.

No idea about relative sizes/complexities/GNU-stati/etc but not worth NOT using Claws these days. Think it may have branched from Sylpheed and latest version has more polish. OTOH, New Eudora1.0, now in rc1 .pet thanks to scsijon, well worth very close examination. Always used to be head&shoulders above the pack - only draw back was it used the wrong English dictionary so took a few months to train it to speak properly.
Feedback appreciated, please.
