I looked around for patches for gFTP 2.0.19 and I found two. The first is from Ubuntu (gftp_2.0.19-2ubuntu1.diff.gz), the second from Gentoo (gftp-2.0.19-gftp-expand-path-sigsegv.patch.gz), uploaded here:
After testing, I found that these patches do not fix my particular problem, but they are supposed to fix some other bugs.
I have created a PET 'gftp-2.0.19-patched1-w5.pet', but unable to upload it (see previous blog post).

Filezilla works for sat
Barry, I have found filezilla works quite happily for sat, if it will do what you want, it checks the link and it will reconnect automatically and continue. Alternately Firefox's ftp addon also does for sat, but is not quite as good.
I take it you have contacted skymesh's support in the first case, in case you just need a link rejig, they are very Puppy Linux aware and will help us as much as they can.
pm me on the forum if you need a contact name.

Barry, Have you tried wput?
"Wput is a command-line ftp-client that looks like wget but instead of downloading, uploads files or whole directories to remote ftp-servers."
"Wput supports resuming, so it automatically continues uploading from the point where the previous upload stopped, meaning that you can kill Wput anytime and it will (if the remote ftp−server supports this, being most likely the case) finish the partial uploaded file."
I have used it with great success.
