Personally, I don't see this as a bug. When the red dialog box appears stating that no package is found, it is normal practice to click the "okay" button to close it. Then the PPM main GUI works again.
However, it seems that some people don't want to do this, they don't close the red dialog box. Yeah alright, if that is what you want, I have fixed PPM so that if you don't close the red dialog box, the main PPM window will still work.
File modified: /usr/local/petget/findnames.sh.

Umm - not quite. Blame me and bd for insufficient explanation.
I will try again, you should see it:
Put in a search in PPM for a .pet that you know is not available. The red box appears. However, as the cursors traverses the main PPM box in an attempt to get to the red box, it disappears (presumably behind the PPM box?) This is most disconcerting. When I first saw it I thought I was having problems with my Logitech mouse, again.
One has to guess when the cursor has reached the red box. If successful it reappears inside the red box and can be clicked off. The unfortunate corollary is, of course, that the cursor gets lost until it hits the red box - perhaps, in the eyes of the user, forever!
Probably it's a simple fix as plenty of apps/settings allow one to have items 'always on top' ? Not being in the SW business, I have no idea where to find/how to modified the code.
Hope this clears some of the muddy water. As a user, I consider this worrying rather than show-stopping.

I have posted another tweaks against PPM.
It is heavily modified and I18N'ed because the biggest bug of the PPM is breaking the menu language.
And I'd like to inform the easy bugfix against wrong dependency message at uninstall(removepreview.sh).
# 10feb11 shinobar: was the dependency logic inverted
DEP_PKGS="`grep "$remPATTERN" /root/.packages/user-installed-packages | cut -f 9 -d '|' | tr ',' '\n' | grep -v '^\\-' | sed -e 's%^+%%'`"

Thanks, I have fixed DEP_PKGS.

PPM Looks like it stops working
When you download a package it goes into checking for dependencies. There is no message or indication that is happening.
While the checking is being done, it appears like PPM has stopped working or stopped responding. On some package downloads, I have seen it take a long time to finish this dependency check.
Some indication that PPM is doing something would be a nice improvement.
Before I learned to expect this appearance of no activity, I have closed PPM thinking the program had locked up.

Module blacklist dialogue
I upgraded to 511 from 510 using the delta file. If I go to system-> boot manager and click the Blacklist Module button, I get an Xdialog help text file instead of the normal 2-pane dialogue window.
I've seen this several times in various Puppy versions over the years. There must be a fix, but can't remember what it is.

511 PPM cursor fixed
511 seems to have fixed the cursor hiding behind the main PPM window after not finding a package.
