Quirky Xerus first build

March 21, 2016 — BarryK
Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus is LTS, Long Term Supported, and is scheduled to be released in April.

I have decided to build Quirky based on the beta2 DEBs, and the first build boots to the desktop. x86_64 only.

There will be some bugs of course, will have a go at fixing them.

Also, intend to update PETs created by our Puppy developers, and read the Quirky Werewolf64 thread in the Puppy Forum, see what outstanding bugs need to be fixed.

I have compiled the Linux kernel, version 4.4.6, for Quirky Xerus.

Also compiled SeaMonkey 2.40 and Pidgin 2.10.12.

Note, the feedback thread for Werewolf64, that I intend to browse through soon, is here:

Today I bought a 32GB USB3 memory stick. This is the first USB3 Flash stick that I have ever owned, and I am keen to experience its speed.

It is a SanDisk Ultra Fit, one of those really tiny drives.

Doesn't look like it has an activity LED though, which I will miss.
