Request for info: domain registrar

Anyone reading this who has a positive experience with a cheap domain name registrar that accepts PayPal?
I want to register another domain name, but my regular registrar, that I have been with for many years, has been gradually becoming too expensive. They want AU$19.95 per year for a .com domain (that's planetdomain.com.au).
I did a bit of a search and found this one:

"Barry, Looks like cheapnames.com is associated with godaddy. The look says it. I have been with Godaddy on all my sites and have had no problems. Domain management was very easy.

"I left Godaddy since their web interface requires broadband - or, at least, a lot more speed than my 26 KB/S GPRS connection. It used to take me "forever" to administer my domains. I found http://namecheap.com. They have a very nice fast web interface, very low prices, and they take PayPal. Prices are below Godaddy's if you use the discount codes (which I find out here: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/namecheap.com). They also provide free DNS service, which I don't use, since I run my own DNS with my DNS failover system (bind9 + nsupdate +perl).

"Godaddy prices move around, all my registration & hosting is with them. They play games (mess with your DNS records) if your site has any traffic bumps or someone else has issue with your site content. Easy enough to correct most of the time. In Flash's backyard encase you need local muscle [Thanks again Flash] On the other hand, note I plan to turn-over puppylinux.net to you at Feb 09 renewal, having the same registrator would make it easier.

"For small amounts of bandwidth and storage you can't beat http://www.nearlyfreespeech.net . You get an unlimited number of subdomains, access to numerous scripting languages, cheap dns, an ssh logon, a high-speed web interface without all the flashing graphics, and reliable and conscientious response to support requests (usually within a couple of hours after you send them a note). Nearlyfreespeech is a pay as you go service which charges by the penny... and you never pay more than what you use. I have had some problems with the reliability of email forwarding for my domain through nearlyfreespeech.net, though... (they are very intentionally very finicky about how the sender's server is configured) and so I use editdns.net for that instead - which is another excellent service.

"Ahhh... but I misread your question. You're looking for a good cheap registrar. Hmmm... nearlyfreespeech.net does do that. It's eight dollars a year (and an extra penny a day if you want your whois information obscured). I actually am quite fond of namecheap.com as a registrar. They're fairly cheap, and you get absolutely full control over the various aspects of managing your domain. They also are good about sending out reminders when the registration fee is about to expire. You get about three over the course of the month before it expires.

"I recommend http://Domain-Cheap.com There are no games with them because is not their game. They are in the business of community and helping small home base businesses to get their start, by show people how to build a website themselves free with online tutorials and free services. They have always been verified cheapest and as of this writing this is still true. $8.99 for a .com and $1.99 when purchased with another product. .coms are even free with online website builders.
