Limited Internet access again

Please note that I may not be immediately responsive to requests, and my posts to this blog will have gaps of 1 - 3 days, as I currently do not have Internet access from home.
I am posting this from the Perenjori Telecentre, but I only come in here occasionally.
I'll be in Perth in a few days and will catch up, also intend to upload Jaunty pup alpha7.
Note, I have sent off my application to Skymesh, a satellite Internet provider. The company that I was temporarily with, Reachnet, was unsatisfactory. Actually, it turns out very well, as Skymesh offer more bang for the buck -- I get 2G download + 2G offpeak per month, for just $39.95 per month (after which it drops to dialup speed). The speed is 512/256, which is reasonable also.
Skymesh also offer VOIP telephone service for an extra $15 per month, but as they state in their FAQ sheet, there is a latency of one second. They state that they have optimisations to minimise that delay, but I really don't see how they can get around the fundamental problem of the latency -- it makes talking with someone a very frustrating experience!
