Quirky 1.0 released

Finally, we have an official release of Quirky!

At the time of posting this blog announcement, I have just finished uploading to ibiblio.org, and the files may not have propagated through to the mirrors yet.

The Quirky 1.0 live-CD is 106MB and has all the apps that you expect in any "normal" Puppy -- with the added bonuses of the Nvidia Xorg driver and ability to play a wider range of multimedia files. Have fun!

Sharp 300MHz/64MB Not enough to run SeaMonkey, downloaded elinks, it works great, writing with it. elinks opens the quirky help page, the file shortcutkeys.htm is missing. On first start sda1 generic icon, after changing dock prefs and mounting sda1 the custon icon shows. It resolved my three major isues. 1) My EpiValley CDMA USB just WORKS. Neither Ubuntu or any of the others big distros runs a this device with such a logical and simple setup. To me this is the number one challenge, the issue of mobile connectivity and its not been really o easy so far. I note that the mobile data part was mentioned as the first "new" thing and it was not disappointing. 2) My weird screen resolution, 1280x800, did not work in any of the big distros, except for Mandriva, but Mandriva could not run the modem. Quercy supports my weird hardware better than the big distros. 3) With just 106mb it fits into my project as a carrier. The GPRS, 3G and CDMA support makes it a really hot candidate for our project in SubSahara Africa, as that is the primary way to access internet in the region.
