Xorg Nouveau driver for Spup

Slackware 13.1 does not have the open source Nouveau Nvidia Xorg driver. The latest Nouveau source requires the 2.6.34 kernel, and as I am now using that kernel, I decided to give Nouveau a go (again).

So, I downloaded the source and compiled it, and it will be in the next release of Spup.

Trying for Lucid

Barry, I am trying to do the same for Lucid. I have been using: http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/InstallNouveau to do it. I have got the source code. I found that I was missing config.guess and config.sub. Found them and move to needed directory. The autogen.sh file ran and said it completed, but, there was no driver file. Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong. I did get Nouveau to work with Luci-205 and Nvidia Ion chipset machine. However, there were problems. It appears the Nouveau driver needs kernelmodesetting function. Based on the Novueau wiki informaton, it is based to use Linux kernel 2.6.35 or later. Linux 2.6.33 should have supports kernelmodesetting. But, I could not use it. I followed trying to use kernel mode commands at boot resulted in complete failure of x server with Luci 205. But, I didn't read the actual Nouveau latest docs. I just now looked in the Nouveau source tarball, no docs in it except for a brief man page.
