Modem upgrade -7.2
August 09, 2010 —
BarryK
I have applied rerwin's latest modem PETs:
pup_event_backend_modprobe_fix_to_p43x-5.2.pet
...note PREFLIST variable got totally removed from /etc/rc.d/MODULESCONFIG
modem_fix_pack_delta-6-to-7.2.pet
usb-modeswitch-1.1.3.pet
usb-modeswitch-data-20100623.pet
Note that except for the 'usb-modeswitch-1.1.3', the PETs get built into Woof so are no longer separate PETs.

After a LOOONG time, they finally managed to fix the Linux responsiveness problem when there's a good amount of hard disk activity: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=ODQ3OQ Patches / backports are available for all kernels NOW :) I'd love to see this fix implemented in Puppy."6 Aug 2010, 14:30"01745"77.28.161.183'VPN for Puppy"ChrisThomas"Barry, Can you please make a VPN .pet? I am using Puppy on a Public Wifi and I don't know how to encrypt my communications Thanks Chris"6 Aug 2010, 17:16"01745"86.96.226.20're PREFLIST"BarryK"Sorry, that was some kind of mental lapse, PREFLIST variable got edited by the pinstall.sh script of the PET, not removed. "01745"114.76.54.13'script broken"BarryK"Please do not apply modem_fix_pack_delta-6-to-7.2.pet in any Puppy greater than 4.x, as it breaks network setup. The script /usr/sbin/connectwizard is overwritten with a very old version. I will contact rerwin about this and he will post an upgrade for the PET. Username: 8 Aug 2010, 16:20
