Wary Puppy 0.3 (030)

This is one for our keen Puppy testers! I have had to rush this out. I will be off-line for the next couple of days, and I wanted to get this Wary uploaded beforehand.

This has the 2.6.27.47 IDE kernel, as discussed recently in my blog. I have recompiled the base packages in T2 with linux-headers and kernel packages both 2.6.27.47. Also Xorg 7.3+ as in earlier Wary releases.

There are some things that I had to leave out:

1. Rerwin sent a patch for ALSA 1.0.23 so that the Conexant modems will work.
2. The gcc package (in the 'devx') needs to be recompiled outside of T2 -- this is an old bug mentioned in this blog.

The purpose of this release is to find out how sane the kernel is. Does it work nicely on old hardware? Well, perhaps it will work nicely on your new hardware also? Do analog modems work? (apart from the Conexant modems, note also I compiled the Lucent 'ltmodem' not the Martian driver).

Um, and if you want to risk it, does it play nicely with your ext4 partition?

Note that it does not yet have any PET packages compiled specifically for Wary. They are all Quirky or even a few older Puppy 4.x PETs. In some cases this may cause trouble -- Ayttm has been mentioned though I haven't checked that myself.
