RasPi coming soon

I received the paperwork from Element14, dated 29 May, which probably means that my Raspberry Pi was posted also. Tomorrow (Monday) is a public holiday here, so I am expecting the parcel to arrive on Tuesday.

When it does arrive, I will most likely switch over to working intensely on porting Puppy to it.

Which means that the x86 Precise Puppy will languish. I uploaded beta1 early this morning, and already have fixed many things. I will continue that until Tuesday morning I think, then upload beta2.

After that, Precise Puppy development will slow down for awhile.

We have a plan, a name, logo, wiki page, blog etc http://puppylinux.org/wikka/PuppiPlan I will be changing/updating the wiki as Puppi evolves . . . The interest and need for Puppy on Rpi is enormous. The ARM chip was made for Puppy. So cool.

"hmmm I was debating on buying one, I just don't like that there is no vga output. I guess It could be connected to a tv but I think its a bit silly to forget the most used monitor output. ttuuxxx

"I too debated getting one, but I'm super skint at mo - so it would be luxury. no vga could be a problem too. Don't know if you're been following the raspi forum - but because the device is based on a mobile-phone chip adding vga support was neither trivial nor cheap. I'm hoping the community to work miracles and create a work around for vga ; -)

Mele has VGA

"The Mele has VGA port, and it uses ARMv7. For starters, Barry has built "Lui" for it, and Ted Dog is [url=http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=78576]discussing it in the forum. (Just search for "Mele" to follow Barry's blogs on it.) There are many mentions of compatibility between ARMv7 and ARMv6 (for the RasPi), and I guess that once this relation has been operationalized for the RasPi and Mele, devs can easily port code from one to the other.

"Fred, Barry, Ted and I (among others) have Mele A1000 (its chips are identical to A2000 = Allwinner A10 SoC). Ted has [url=http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=78576]posted bin files for getting VGA output (the default is for HDMI output). The VIA Android PC has the same processor as the RasPi, but its other chips should be different. If you want to buy the Mele, get it from Linux hacker Tom [url=http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/546571245-Mele-A2000-TV-box-Allwinner-A10-hackable-device-wholesalers.html]here.
