if you opened the image file, you don't use 'dd' to copy the
individual partitions. You copy the contents of the partition, using
'cp'.
If you copy the contents of the ext4 partition of the image file to
somewhere, say your partition3, it will not be resized.
You would have to edit limine.cfg in the vfat boot partition
"wkg_uuid=" and "wkg_dir=" kernel parameters to wherever the
'vmlinuz', 'initrd' and 'easy.sfs' files are located.
