Zoom SFS created using deb2sfs

September 15, 2022 — BarryK

I have posted about the new 'deb2sfs' script:

https://bkhome.org/news/202209/easy-creation-of-sfs-from-deb-packages-with-deb2sfs.html

The 'deb2sfs' script has now been used to create a Zoom SFS. I downloaded version 5.11.10 from here:

https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/204206269-Installing-or-updating-Zoom-on-Linux

...which also lists the dependencies, and I saw that 'ibus' is required, that is not in Easy. However, it is in the Dunfell package repository, and 'ibus' has 'unicode-ucd' dependency. So I threw them into the "debs" folder:

It is on the to-do list that will record these extra dependency requirements somewhere in /usr/local/easy_containers/templates/zoom. So won't have to remember them when do a future zoom deb2sfs.

The SFS has been uploaded, so you can click on "sfs" icon to download and install it. It will only install to the main desktop, as audio is broken in a container.

However, on the main desktop it runs as user "zoom" and has its own sandbox, so is pretty secure.

On my Lenovo PC, only tested audio, which works. Right now, don't have video hardware, so couldn't test that. Try Zoom, let me know how it works for you!
