Easy Excalibur 6.111 V7-beta2 released
Lots of improvements and fixes since 6.108 was released. Blog posts:
- Freeze at second boot fixed — July 18, 2025
- Desktop update icon now updates devx sfs — July 17, 2025
- Easy Excalibur hanging again at 2nd boot — July 16, 2025
- SpaceFM file manager now in EasyOS — July 14, 2025
Plus a lot more reported to the forum:

Some more notes:
SpaceFM is working nicely, check it out. I haven't tried any of the networking plugins, so anyone game to test that will be appreciated.
Freeze of over 2 minutes likely to be gone. If you experience a delay, even if only 10-20 seconds, at the desktop open a terminal and do this:
# dmesg > /mnt/wkg/dmesg.log
# geany /mnt/wkg/dmesg.log
Then in geany, search for "timeout". If udevd is reporting "slow" and "timeout", then there are still issues. This new behaviour of udevd is really weird; has cut down the time it allows for a program called from a udev rule.
The network tray applet is not yet fixed. That is also really weird. It was fixed, see earlier post:
- Proper fix for network tray applet — July 03, 2025
...then suddenly it was broken again. The cause is /usr/local/pup_event/pup_event_frontend_d, which is written in C and is rather complicated code that I wrote early 2019, and can't really recall how it all works. Have to study it some more, try and simplify it.
If you have 6.108, the desktop "update" should now work. It will update EasyOS, but not the devx sfs -- that will update after 6.111.
If you don't already have Easy Excalibur running, download from here:
https://distro.ibiblio.org/easyos/amd64/releases/excalibur/2025/6.111/
...about 1GB, big, but the updates are much smaller; the update 6.108 to 6.111 is 172MB.
For anyone interested in building their own EasyOS from scratch:

What else... I still haven't got around to testing EasyShare. Forum member don570 has been looking at that in 6.108, and hopefully everything is now in place for it to work.
Feedback welcome at the forum:

Have fun!
