SeaMonkey suite now builtin to Easy Excalibur

July 23, 2025 — BarryK

Perhaps I am being a bit selfish, but have decided to include SeaMonkey suite builtin in Easy Excalibur. It bumps the easy*.img file from 1009MB to 1081MB, but does that bigger size really matter?

Already over 1GB, so what is the harm of a bit more?

The issue with me, is I use the Composer WYSIWYG HTML editor for writing these blog posts. So always have to install it. Now, with containers getting more attention, I would like the Composer editor to be available in containers, not have to install it for each container.

Also, it would be nice to have an email client builtin. That is one of the components of SeaMonkey. Some people use an email client, as they don't trust keeping all their emails at online email systems, such as gmail.

I'm also thinking of going that way, have one OS in which all gmail emails are downloaded to.

Thinking of a PC with 4GB RAM, perhaps still OK for easy.sfs, at 981MB, to load into RAM. PC with 2GB RAM, well, even a much smaller easy.sfs wouldn't be copied into RAM anyway. So, reckon the jump in size is OK.

It is a big download, but users will in future update via the "update" desktop icon, which is a much smaller difference-file.
