Gmail app-password with Claws
I have been evaluating Claws-Mail as a possible builtin
replacement for SeaMonkey Mail. I was not able to get Oath2
authentication to work with Claws, though it was extremely simple
with SM; the latter just caused a notification on my phone “Is
that
you?” and then I was in. Claws on the otherhand, the instructions
for Oath2 are horrendous, and for me didn’t work -- the problem
was failure to obtain an "authorization code".
Here is a related blog post yesterday:

I will look at it again, but for now, the old “app password” method does work. This page explains how you create an app password for accessing gmail by imap, pop and smtp:

Follow the link “Create and manage your app passwords” and after logging in to gmail there will be a window to create an app password. In my case, I have already created one:
In Claws account setup, this app-password has to be
entered into the “Password” field:
The other configuration windows are logical. POP
must have “Authenticate before POP connection” checkbox unticked:
And SMTP must have authentication set to “LOGIN”
and again the app-password:
In the TLS window, "TLS" checkboxes are ticked for both send and
receive. Both pop and smtp work. Why is there no “imap”
mentioned in any of these windows?
Here are the Claws official instructions for setting up Oath2 with gmail:

Anyway, I am going back to SeaMonkey Composer to create blog posts. I found, after some usage, that LibreOffice Writer is too flakey. Images do not stay where they are placed in the page. The is a "Show HTML souce" checkbox in Web-view, except the checkbox mysteriously disappeared from the menu.
I was experiencing so many hassles creating this blog post, so
changed back to SM Composer. Now editing is sane. Which means that
SM is staying builtin to Easy, which means that Claws won't
be.
