Mouse input back onto evdev

December 30, 2025 — BarryK

The Chromium developers made a change that broke evdev handling of mouse input, as reported here:

https://bkhome.org/news/202510/mix-libinput-evdev-and-synaptics-drivers.html

So EasyOS 7.0.24 had mouse input changed from evdev to libinput.

Now at Easy 7.1, I discovered that mouse input is broken again. It happened on a couple of sites, including my bank login -- clicking the mouse pointer on the account name and password fields did not activate them and was unable to type anything.

I changed back to evdev handling of the mouse, and now bank login works, also the previous problem with the tabs has been fixed.

Ha ha, the Chromium developers have fixed one problem with the mouse and introduced a new one. Will have to keep a close watch on this in future versions of Chromium.

Anyway, have a fix, which will be in the next release of EasyOS. Maybe I should bring it out by the last day of 2025, so as to use this months data allowance.
