EasyOS Excalibur-series version 7.0.27 released
For myself, I am pleased with this release, as it has setup
SeaMonkey Mail module to be a local email client with external
storage. I will be able to download the years of accumulated
emails on my gmail account.
When the SM Mail module is run, it creates a profile at
/files/apps/seamonkey/profile-mail, that may also be reached via
/mnt/wkg/files/apps/seamonkey/profile-mail (or
/mnt/${WKG_DEV}/${WKG_DIR}files/apps/seamonkey/profile-mail)
The /files folder is encrypted, at least it is if you entered a
password at the first bootup after installation. This is an
important security precaution, especially as SM stores the mail in
plain text format.
The folder /files/apps/seamonkey (and children) has owner:group "seamonkey:seamonkey" and permissions "2700", which means that only SeaMonkey can read and write in it. Other apps that run as their own user, cannot even see into it.
Folder /mnt/${WKG_DEV}/${WKG_DIR}files/apps/seamonkey/profile-mail can be shared with SeaMonkey Mail in other Linux installations; however it is an encrypted folder and will need to be decrypted. Another EasyOS installation can access it easily if booted with the same password. For other Linux installations, we will need a little script to run to decrypt.
You can see how the external profile path is set by examining
/usr/bin/seamonkey script. It could be set to anywhere you want.
