Also, there is feedback in the forum that looking in /var/log/messages there are gtk+3 segfaults. Caramel also reported applications freezing and gtk+3 segfaults showing up in the log.
I have compiled gtk+3, version 3.24.43, as used in Yocto, with a patch from Yocto. The Debian gtk+3 packages are version 3.24.49. I thought maybe an instability might have got introduced in the latest minor version bump.
I have only installed my own gtk+3 as a temporary hack. In
woofQ2, my gtk+3 is a .pet package that is installed after the
Debian packages, and APT doesn't know about it, thinking that only
the Debian packages are installed. This is just for testing. If it
turns out to fix the segfaulting, will do my substitution in a
more proper way.

EDIT:
Soon after uploading, we realized that Chromium is broken.
EasyOS version 7.0.20 released.
How is it that a broken, truly unusable, Chromium is allowed to get so far as being an official Debian package? I suppose the blame goes back to the Chromium/Chrome developers, and perhaps the generation of security updates of Debian Chromium packages is automated.
Have rolled Chromium back, see a link in the release notes that reports the fault:
